Competition rules

  • You may enter up to 3 pieces for one $25 application fee, although you will need to complete a separate application for each piece.
  • Work must be finished at the time of receipt of the application. 
  • Pieces must be owl-themed and made of mostly beads.
  • The piece entered in the application will be the piece that will be exhibited at the International Owl Center (IOC) if the piece is selected by the jury for the show.
  • As this is the first show, you may enter pieces done in any previous years.
  • A significant portion of the piece submitted must contain beads (preferred) or other jewelry making materials (stones, wire, fabric, found objects). The jurors will make the determination if a piece meets this criteria.
  • Beads and other materials may be sewn, glued, wired or otherwise attached.
  • At least one and not more than three photographs of each piece being entered must accompany the application.
    •  If applying online:  File format:  JPEG or GIF.  No smaller than 1920 pixels on the longest side. 96 ppi/dpi (NEW standard web resolution). File size 5MB maximum.  Most iPhones and smart phones can take photos at this resolution.  
  • Maximum size for 2-dimensional pieces is 10”x13”x3”. 
  • For 3-dimensional pieces such as sculpture, the maximum size is 36”x 36”.
  • Garments and wearable art must be life-size or smaller. 
  • The jury will award points for originality, design, use of color, experience level and technical ability.
  • The jury will have the right to award more prizes.
  • Decisions of the jury will be final.
  • All “For Sale” entries submitted using this online application will be listed for sale on the International Owl Center’s web site.  The Owl Center will keep 25% of the sales price set by the artist and the artist will receive 75% of the sales price if the piece sells.

Art Work will be shipped back to artist:
By August 31, 2020  (artist will pay shipping and insurance in addition to $25 entry fee)

Artists paid for work sold during the show:
Checks will be mailed by August 24, 2020
